Graduate Training for Employment Scheme (GTES)
The Graduate Training for Employment Scheme (GTES) is a Government measure which aims at improving the employability of unemployed graduates / diploma holders, by equipping them with the right skills through training programmes tailored to the needs of participating enterprises. The GTES is being implemented by the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC). Unemployed graduates/diploma holders are invited to register on the GTES platform to benefit from training and placement programmes. Eligible graduates will be contacted when employers submit their proposals to the HRDC. Pre-selection and selection of candidates will be based on the requirements of the employers.
Eligibility Criteria for Graduates / Diploma Holders
Graduates / Diploma Holders must be unemployed
Interested candidates should possess at least a Diploma (NQF Level 6) from a recognised institution
Duration of the programme
Between 3 to 12 months, inclusive of training and work placement
Benefits for unemployed Graduates / Diploma Holders
Free training and development opportunities as well as hands-on work placement experience to gain industry-relevant skills
Possible employment upon successful completion of the training programme.
A monthly stipend of Rs 10,000 will be provided to each graduate by the HRDC during the training and placement period
Benefits for Employers / Industry Associations
Training programme is mounted by employers, based on their specific skills needs
The training cost is funded by the HRDC for up to a maximum of Rs 100,000 per graduate/diploma holders.
Enterprises can select trainees from an available pool of graduates based on their selection criteria
Interested employers / industry associations can identify skill gaps within their business, and enlist and train graduates through the following methods:
Courses mounted in-house by the employer to meet specific skills requirements of the business;
Courses mounted jointly by the employer and a registered training provider;
Courses mounted by a group of employers or through industry associations with a registered training provider or tertiary education institution; or
Industry certification programmes or professional courses.
Award courses: Courses must be MQA / HEC accredited
Non-award courses: The training proposal must be submitted to the HRDC
